The Ground-Breaking Sony 55HX800 Plasma TV

When the Sony 55HX800 was introduced into the market, it had to be acknowledged that a new age had dawned as far as TV technology is concerned. This 3D HDTV with a 55 inch display personifies revolutionary developments. One such detail is LED back lighting that is facilitated by new technology called Dynamic Edge. Another first is refresh rate that is startlingly fast at 240Hz which facilitates spectacular 2D pictures.

It is also a beauty, with graceful lines and surface that is all about shiny black bezel. On its right are controls for Volume, Power, Channel and Input Source. There is also a Home or Menu button which can be used to turn the TV on and off without using the TV control or the switch on the set.

The left has a set of composite A/V ports, a single USP port and two HBMI jacks. Several I/O ports sit on the back together with a 3D sync connector. The latter is used to connect to a 3D transmitter, an Ethernet Port, optical audio outputs, a PC audio input and VGA/PC and coaxial connectors.

Even the remote control is a first; it is a matt ebony one of 8.6 inches that is concave-shapes with a 4-way rocker and no less than 43 buttons. You can easily use it without looking at it thanks to good positioning of commonly used buttons. There is also a 3D button that will convert images from 2D and 3D mode. You can also preset the TV to video presets such as sports, game, cinema and others as well as roam between 3 major video modes of Custom, Vivid and Standard.

You can also switch between 2D and 3D mode with a button dedicated to this and there are also video presets you can choose like game, sports, cinema and other options. Roaming between three main video modes of Standard, Vivid and Custom is also enabled on the remote control.

There is the option of getting active shutter 3D glasses separately from the manufacturer. All in all, the Sony 55HX800 Bravia KDL, with its brilliant image impressions and superior sound quality will definitely make an impression on you.
